How to plan a trip with AI
Guide · Updated October 2026
An AI travel planner turns a few inputs (where you’re going, when, and what you like) into a day-by-day plan. Done well, it saves hours of tab-hopping. Done carelessly, it gives you a plan that looks great and doesn’t work on the ground. This guide shows how to get the first and avoid the second.
1. Give it real constraints
The more concrete your inputs, the better the plan. Before generating, decide:
- Destinations and exact dates. If you visit several cities, enter each with its own dates so each day is planned in the right place.
- Pace. Two big sights a day and a long lunch is a different trip from six stops.
- Who is traveling. Families, couples and groups of friends want different things.
- Fixed commitments. Flights, hotel check-ins and tickets you already bought should anchor the plan, not be overwritten by it.
2. Generate, then review like an editor
Treat the AI output as a strong first draft. Check three things:
- Travel time between stops. A plan that ignores transit is the most common failure.
- Opening days and hours. Museums often close one day a week.
- Energy. Is arrival day realistic after a long flight?
3. Fix only what’s wrong
You shouldn’t have to regenerate everything because one afternoon is off. In Viajaro you can:
- edit or delete any activity and add your own;
- regenerate a single day, a whole city stay, or just the morning or afternoon of a day where you change cities;
- reorder a day so activities are grouped by location and you spend less time in transit (it never moves activities tied to a booking);
- see the weather forecast for each day when the date is within the forecast window.
4. Keep bookings next to the plan
An itinerary is only useful if it knows about your flights and hotels. In Viajaro you can upload a PDF or screenshot of a confirmation and the app creates the booking for you. Bookings appear in the right day of the itinerary, and a Today view shows what is happening now and what comes next while you travel.
5. Plan for the group
If you travel with others, invite them as editors or viewers, and add travelers who don’t use the app. Everyone sees the same plan.

Frequently asked questions
Can AI really plan my whole itinerary?
It can draft a complete day-by-day plan with times, durations and local tips in a few minutes. You should still review it: confirm opening days, add your fixed bookings, and edit what doesn’t fit your style. In Viajaro every activity can be edited, and you can regenerate one day, one city or just an afternoon.
Is Viajaro’s AI itinerary free?
You can start for free. Some AI-heavy features have usage limits, and optional paid plans lift them. Prices depend on your country and are shown in the store.
